CMay gallery is pleased to present Double Take, a group exhibition featuring nine Los Angeles- based artists who are known for their figurative work that observes the human psychology.
 
The artists have diverse stylistic approaches to their practice but find a commonality within an underlying psychological domain.

The show features both drawing and paintings that contain immediately recognized forms of the human figure that are at times expressive, in others stoic, capturing a moment of internal analysis still unresolved, leaving the viewer to ponder the impending story-line.

Each artist investigates the figure and the looming implication of the untold story. The tension created by this exploration moves the plot into new directions engaging the viewer to look beyond the surface to take a second look.
 
What is not revealed but eluded to in imminent tale forms a psychological tension within the plot. The viewer is lead through a journey where his or her own imagination completes the narrative, heightening the possibility of its potential outcome.
